| For logistical purposes, when do sweeps start in Springfield for the fall? Sometime in September, I believe.....

| Usually, I like to post Nostradamus like predictions of what I think the ratings will be. I like to think I can spot trends and magically see things. Unfortunatly, I am feeling nothing. I dont even have the crazy hubris just to make up stuff. What I would like to see as an experiment is something very small town radio stations used to do, the split format. You know country by day, rock n roll by night type thing. If I was one of the companies here in town and I was scratching my head for a way to experiment without losing my backside I would take my weakest station and try this. What format does the Ozarks not have that would work here if we did mmmm ? How can we find out ???

Let's try, say, Black Gospel and a satellite format called "God's Country." First one for the automatic agency buy, the second for the ratings. Both different from ANYTHING in Springfield, both on the rise.
Any risk takers out there?

My problem with modern day formats too many contemp music formats over lapping, need more variety, kTXR is somewhat different.Country formats not that bad.
We also need more full service stations like KTTS , country music is only part of their draw. when severe weather hits there is where listeners go., no wonder they are always a solid number 1.
KWTO FM and KSGF FM made the right move going to sports and talk.

| Agree with the contemp stations sounding alike. Problem is they play the same songs everyday and it gets old quick. As far as doubling up, that might have worked in the day, but there are far too many choices today and stations must have an idenity of some sort.

Considering KGBX is programmed out of NYC now (and the music is identical to other CC AC stations), its lost its identity.

But they have zero competition so it doesn't matter...They have 70's Saturday which is still a huge hit and there is not a station that plays AC that can touch them because they are a heritage radio station now...even though we may not like all the music choices, who is going to compete with them? Not STAR(yeah, right), not Alice(they've really lost their identity), not KTXR...Nobody...so they can do whatever they want and still do well

| Yeah, in this case being programmed out of NEW YORK CITY ( sorry just had to do that BBQ sauce flashback ) isnt a big crime. Woody and Janet are local icons. Just having your music programmed somewhere else isnt that huge of crime if you got local talent. Besides you think Johnny Boy Tesh hand selects every musical number played on his show ?

I think afternoon cardinal games really hurt KTXRs ratings on a weekday afternoon, probably like KGBX a popular listen at work station. While it draws many sports fans probably drives many music listeners away
I know years ago at KIXZ in Amarillo TX, we decided to carry Houston Astro baseball one yearand mostly night games.Since we were a top 40 station our night ratings went down and a crosstown station gained.

| You are right I think. Just look at the Arbitron ratings for just about any market and the Sports station are always at or near the bottom. It's a "Loud Minority".
