XGM began a new weekly radio show on KADI AM1340 on Sunday.  I think other stations with bigger signals missed an opportunity to have a guy on the air who knows the Ozarks inside and out.

I noticed the 1340 tower is near Lake Springfield and the signal into Christian County.   I think what Christian County needs is its own radio community radio station?  Up for a new challenge, Arr?

Yes, I heard some of his show yesterday.  XGM's voice has a comforting timbre to it, a reminder of years past.

At least, Curt's been around long enough to comment intelligently on some of the issues raised.

Their biggest hurdle is going to be getting people to tune over to 1340.

And, on a technical note, I'd love to get my hands on the audio processing for KADI-AM.  It seems very harsh.

Thanks for your nice comments about my new show.  It was really fun to be back on the air in Springfield.  I thought it went well with enough calls to keep it moving well. I really enjoy doing this type "open topic" show, it keeps me on the edge of my seat. As to the time.. 7 to 9 am Sunday, that's exactly the same as Cracker Barrel, a show that I started back in 1972... but that's part of the fun of it, trying to steal their audience.  I would welcome calls on the air from any of my fellow "radio folks". Just remember the delay is working!!  ;) XGM

Hope no one heard the show this past Sunday.  It was a disaster.  We went off the air for about 30 minutes, just 15 minutes into the show. Of course all the would be listeners left and when we came back on we were virtually devoid of calls.  Had 3 total for the entire 2 hrs.  Left me to adlib a lot but we made it through. Hopefully that will be the last of that type stuff...UGH!!:(

Ugh! another "not fun" day. It was an hour and half into the show before we got the first call..entirely too long.  Getting listeners to switch stations after years and years is going to be a touch chore but I think we can do it.  I may have to have guests in to share the time and interview them about their expertiese.  To fill time, I can't just repeat myself over and over.

Last week's show went just fine...had Sgt Bracker of the MSHP as guest, so that takes the pressure of calls off and the show was great I thought. This week another guest dealing with Obesity ...Dr. from St Johns as guest.

Last week's "Sunday Chat Room" I thought went well. I had as guest Rusty Worley who is the Exec. Dir. of the Urban Alliance..i.e. Downtown, Walnut St. Commercial St. and discussed everything from underage drinking in the bars to the current plans for the old Heers building.  Got local calls and from KADI's streaming via internet.  This week R.C. Amer, the  KADI owner will host the show.  I will be on vacation for the next couple of Sundays.

FYI...tomorrow (4/22) I will have on as a guest Dwayne Doran, who is SW Missouri's leading expert on school shootings.  He has written books on it...teaches the Spfd. Police Dept, Joplin Police and is head of Safety and Security at St. John's Hosp. He should be good.  Call in with your thoughts 7 to9 am on 1340 KADI

I am no longer on KADI.  Due to the lack of calls while outstanding guests were on with me...no one called, so "why waist my time?"
