DB wrote: I noticed you said " anytime soon" It will be back as you can see here Springfield has turned back to "local is best" Look at the mom and pop comebacks.  Family RX is one of the gems in the area and can be heard on Meyer stations. The Wayne Glen show is the hottest show going in the Ozarks. Home grown talent doing radio like it should be. Time will tell time will tell.  How is that circulation of the News-Leader going now?

DB, if you would come out of your nostalgic haze, and actually read what I wrote, you will see that I completely agree that "local is best" - it's the ONLY way radio - not just in the Ozarks, but across the nation - can succeed. I've been saying that for years and years!  But I will take your advice and wait for the "big comeback."  Doin radio "like it should be"?  In whose opinion?  Yours?  A consultant?  The owner of a radio station.

Radio is a very passionate media, and everyone has their own ideas about how it "should be".  Unfortunately, it's up the the owners/managers/programmers as to what their radio station "should be".

Wayne Glenn has the hottest show in the Ozarks?  And this is based on...what?  The ratings?  Your own personal opinion? Wayne Glenn is a gem, but the reason he's doing is show is that it makes $$ for Meyer Communications.

News-Leader circulation is great!  We also have 100,000+ people unique visitors per week coming to news-leader.com.  Would you like to place an ad?

Doug if a consultant said radio " would go back the way is was and

"SUPER SERVE THE LISTENER  " I would say we were doomed. I think consultants rely on a " cookie cutter" that every one across the good ole US of A should do radio programed with a jock or voice from a far. Downsize is what they do. Save your money on consultants. The consultants had a plan for the Springfield Town Square in the late 60,s and it sunk like the titanic.

I am a fan of Meyer.Com because it is what it is ."LOCAL"  and what it could be. The books on radio are not very accurate every one knows the "old KTTS' but hates the new. Except for you. It is still the most known because of the great history of the past. Thats how they get voted on when the ratings come out. I do not even know the call letters of ESPN radio that keeps forgetting to put the Royals on when they play. And your answer is correct my view says things were better when it was LIVE and Local and long time Jocks. same as the Cardinals and Royals in the heydays of the 70's and 80's we knew the players. How many can you name now. Alas we have fewer baseball fans. stands are not full and new stadiums have less seats. Why baseball strikes and we do not feel the closeness of knowing the players just like radio they keep changing the players. Look no further then the Woody and Janet era. Still folks say Woody and Janet because of the turnover. Although Rippee does a good job it takes a long while to grow on the " Mayberry Town" we have people  who are freindley here and I like them still feel Radio TV and even the News-Leader are family here. And we do not like change. Look at Oliver at 10. He will never fill the shoes of our Ozark friendly Joe Daues. Regarding Wayne Glen the $$$$ he makes Meyer because he is nostalgic and when you think Nixa you think Wayne Glen. Barefoot Bob was also beloved by the hills of fans of the Ozarks. But I concede it s my view and I talk alot about it because I know the consulting nuts of corporate are all about bottom dollar and employees mean nothing to them. Its all about the bottom line. And I do not mind telling you the old Mom and Pops gave more then they received and that my friend is what being a " True Ozarkian " is all about. "Tis a Privilege to live in the Ozarks".

Actually, when I think of Nixa I think "that is a pretty cool name for a town."

YMMV, though.

Tre sad.  Sorry I found this board and topic a bit too late...

I just wanted to say to XGM that I was fairly excited to hear that you were hosting a show opposite CrackerBarrel...since it IS your original legacy I'm currently front-running, I welcomed the competition.  Sad to hear it's already over with before I even realized it.

Here's hoping I hear you in another form soon.

I will say the quality of the music on KTXR has improved 10 fold since Jamie has been allowed to modernize the sound.  And I never thought I'd say this, but, KTXR hasn't sounded this good in years. (Yes I'm saying TXR sounds good these days musically!)

I think Mr Meyer may finally realize its time to move on and make TXR even better.

Arbitron points out few are listening to Kenny's stations.

Wow, The View is listening to Mista Meyers' stations...too bad Rosie is gone, I would love to hear her critique.  Or does the above poster mean "few" are listening?  I always liked the music on KTXR (about the only place to hear The Carpenters anymore) but then I'm like "rabbitt",  I'm all over the place musically...I like most anything but but opera amd head banging heavy metal.
