I was listening to KWTO-AM's morning show this morning. I heard an interesting promo. According to the promo KWTO-am will have a new sound as of next Monday morning . The promo featured Chuck Booms telling listeners he would be the new host. I suppose it's the same Chuckie booms that use to do callins from Cleveland on Jock 98
I listened very carefully to make sure it said KWTO-AM instead of KWTO-FM. It definatly said AM. If this is so wouldn't it be a giant step backwards? Is my hearing gone bad, did someone make a mistake on the promo (actually meaning to say fm) ?
Has anyone ,beside me, heard the promo?

Yes, it's true that Chuck Booms will become part of the KWTO-AM staff. He will be the host of MorningLine. Anyone else want to place bets on how long he will last at Meyer Com?
When listeners and advertisers get an earful of him, they are going to be SHOCKED!! If Ken Meyer thought that Ron Davis was bad for revenue, he ain't seen nothin' yet! Look for a mushroom cloud over on Chestnut in a few weeks; the newness will have worn off, and KM will be back to his old self.
In other Meyer Com news, Tom Ladd, is on his way back in the door, and Jamie Turner, on the way out. Tom's first day back is Monday. Things could not have been that bad over at the Cardinals, could they? He will be reminded why he left such a thankless organization like Meyer soon.
TOM, YOU'RE NUTS...BUT I WILL ALWAYS RESPECT YOU!

Yep, it's true. Meyer Comm is saying goodbye to Jamie Turner, who, in my opinion, was definately as asset and will be sorely missed. Especially by me.
FYI - Guess I'm not supposed to spill the beans, but absent a press release or any other big announcement ... the new KTXR format hits the air on Monday. Listen in, I will be VERY interested in your feedback. Timeless Love Songs. Need I say more?
Here we go! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

It's going to be interesting to see how those same 20 callers that call every day,Ernie,Ruth,Barbara,ect...are going to react to this fellow who "ain't one of us ozarkers"who has a background in comedy trying to do a serious talk show. It may be interesting to see how many of them will just not call or tries to call every day( to keep their little club going) and Chuck gets tired of the same ole same ole and starts to tell them to not call any more. The moment I will be waiting for is when Chuck says something negative abount Republicans or something positive about Democrats. It could be an uproar. The natives will probably be restless.
We'll see how Chuck reacts to having The Big Man rush into the control room and starts to yell at him while he's trying to to his listeners on the air. It is going to be intresting to see how long this combination is going to last . What do you think gang? Three weeks? Probably not.

Lisa,
Did you just say that KTXR was going to modify it's format again? You're kidding. But, then again, wasn't Jamie the architect of the current revision of the KXTR music mix? I'm shocked and amazed. Who's choosing the music now?

A consultant is. I could see "Timeless Love Songs" as a call in request show in the evening, but all day? We'll have to see how it plays out. Tune in Sunday after the Missouri State game for a preview.
I agree with Ken 371......DON'T sign a long term lease Chuckie!!

| I agree with kingbear that it could be a little too much to play all love songs all day. It depends on how you define love songs I suppose. I used to host the "lights out" love song show on what was KLSI 93.3 in KC back in the 80's and me and the PD often disagreed...he didn't like it when I played Aretha's "Freeway of Love," Huey lewis' "The Power of Love" or Dion's "Teenager In Love"...they were too uptempo. There are a lot of uptempo love tunes but it seems most programmers feel that a love song should be slow. I'm playing the Spinners' "Cupid" right now it is medium/up but to me it's a love song and there are a lot of bright love songs. I hope they don't stick with strict love ballads that would be too bland..

| Now that I have had all day to really think about it, you know maybe things are not going well for Chuckie, and he figures hey that town Springfield seems to love me, my nightclub appearences do well, I am still a hot guest on the sports reporters, maybe I can be the new town curmudgion and I can grow old and die here. Maybe he has it in him to do something other than what I used to hear on Kilie and Booms. Maybe I have stood too close to the fryer, but you look at anything in Springfield that has ever been edgy... for example remember when Steve Kaler ( misspelled I know) used to write crazy stuff in the paper... not in about 10 years now... The cracker barrel chick sounds scarred, and has probably moved into witness protection... Anything more contraversial than should Pujols bat 3 or 4 or what was the population of Nixa when Nixa monument company started, will get you alot of heat nobody seems to want to take.

| I heard Booms this morning...my thoughts.... too much sports. There are two all sports stations in town already..both being VERY LOW in the ratings. If there's one thing Springfield doesn't need, its more sports.

When I said maybe I have stood too close to the fryer I was talking about cooking bacon at Ziggies, I am not that egotistical and I am aware that I am a village idiot. My gripe with KWTO AM has always been other than Rush Limbaugh you never know whats on, or when it will be on. I did work at KSAL in Salina, Kansas my birth hometown and they are crazy in a good way about program scheduling. In fact seems like all Meyer stations have that laisse fare attitude when it comes to scheduling. Have'nt heard Booms yet, or KTXR's new format been up to my knees in pots and pans
