When should we expect to hear the first numbers out on the Fall Arbitron?  Any bets on how it will go?

I predict...Bass Country UP, KWTO down, Sports stations all down, KTTS down slightly, KSGF down, KGBX up slightly, Oldies er-a-Star up slightly,  Any thoughts from the rest of you?

I think US97 & Alice will both be up. Z, Q, The Cave & Power all down. I can't see why Journal is keeping the Z alive, yet in the pits. The station could do so much better with a little more effort/funding.

I’m anxious to see how things pan out with KTXR & Star and how the effect KGBX. Also anxious to see how The Wolf is doing with Adam on afternoons.

Those are my thoughts...enjoy!

That is so dumb. Who in the heck is Adam? Why would he bolster ratings? C'mon folks... haven't you all learned by now that nobody tunes in because of the DJ?

With the exception of my mom making a point to tune in and listen to me while I was with various Springfield stations, nobody cared it was me. Well, maybe a few husbands, but that's a discussion for a different message board.

Unless you're Woody P. Snow, Mike Edwards or perhaps Kevin & Liz, nobody's tuning in because YOU'RE the schlep announcing Skynyrd. Get real. Please. An individual is a mental midget if he thinks that for even one moment the station's listeners are HIS. The only reason Kevin & Liz are mentioned above is because they've been afforded the opportunity (and have produced results) to remain on the air for many years.  As for Woody and to a lesser degree Mike Edwards, well they've been at it for a couple of decades and then some.

But, by and large, listeners don't tune in because Adam is giving the weather once an hour on Wolf. It just doesn't work that way anymore.

Do my "homework" AGAIN? Beyond a picture of CJ, I couldn't even find anything pertaining to jocks on the Wolf site.

You produce a breakdown or two indicating this particular DJ's market influence and I'll let it go. But... I strongly suspect you will not be able to qualify your claims with Arbitron numbers.

There are these new things called tabs on websites now days. You’ve got to click on the one that says “Wolf Pack”.

Besides boredom, what gives you justification to argue someone else’s speculations? I would suggest tuning in to his show, but you’re not even in this market anymore.

According to his webpage, he’s programming the station. That would probably have something to do with why “I’m anxious to see how The Wolf is doing with Adam”.

Feel free to argue with me some more like we’re in high school. Oh, and don’t forget you’re on active duty with the U.S. Grammar Patrol!

1. 19 years in the radio industry pretty much give me the right to argue ANYone's speculation.

2. Your original statement, "I wonder how the Wolf will do with Adam on afternoons" has no reference to you "wondering how the Wolf will do BECAUSE HE'S PROGRAMMING THE STATION".

3. Since I missed the Wolf Pack tab entirely, I'll take that one. However, it's pretty low-brow, if not tacky to have a dumb picture of the guy in the restroom.

4. As for my grammar, well, I'll pit my composition skills against anyone's. Period.

My reply to your original post revolved solely around your statement pertaining to the station's ratings because Adam was on afternoons. If it bothers you that someone challenges your "speculation", perhaps you should not be in the radio industry. That's what radio is all about. Challenging speculation. One of the best and wisest bosses I've ever had would sound his clarion call often: "If you always agree with me, one of us isn't necessary". So true.

So go ahead and effort the dissection and subsequent misinterpretation of my post. With your apparent knee-jerk reactions and quick temper, you'll be a great boss for many up and coming radio wannabes.

Well, they are in...KTTS has a 15.9, I think the highest since Journal took over.

KGBX back in 2nd place

KSPW in third, could it be that the ipods of the world are stealing the kids?

Bass Country in 4th with a 5.8

KSGF A/F up only .1 from Spring

well that's the top 5, no real suprises, KWTO FM (Sports) is up nicely from last book but still in 12th place.

Any thoughts from the rest of you?

Boy, not much movement.   Guess I shouldn't have expected much.

KTOZ-FM dropped more than I expected.   And, KOSP  DIDN'T drop as much as I expected.

Not much to get excited about.

KOSP did drop out of the top ten down to  number 11...It is always good to stay in that select circle it seems, for sales purposes.  I think John Tesh pulled them down, he is no Tom Kent and when I've listened the station sounded rather bland.   "Oldies" used to be the ratings cash cow for MWF but now it looks like it is bringing up the rear for that group.  Glad to see Bass Country still doing good and looks like a tight battle between KXUS and KKLH.

Meyer stations with four of the bottom six stations, that is never good but then Ken don't care that much about ratings.  KTXR numbers suck but a decent rebound for KWTO.

Journal with three stations in the top five.  KTTS almost doubling their nearest competitor, those are killer numbers in this day and age.  I gotta give credit to the news coverage, consistency, and heritage.  Are they sill live 24 hours a day?  I gotta think that contributes...I contend that a live overnight is an excellent lead into the morning show.  Maybe someday management will figure that out and stop being so cheap.

"burner"...I agree with your comment about live overnights.  Nothing more disgusting than waking in the middle of the night, turning on your radio because thunder caused you to wake up and hear "eighteen past the hour"... "high today near 80 with some clouds".  How about the pending storm? How about the current temp?  How about 18 past what hour?  All reasons why Radio keeps slipping lower in the minds of listeners and potential listeners.   Trying to "save money" actually ends up costing money in the long run when the station's ratings go down and down.

Joplin's number 1 and 2 look similiar to Springfield.

KIXQ 102.5 Country is a solid number 1 in double digits

KJMK 93.9 lite AC like KGBX is number 2, played Christmas music also

In Springfield KTXR numbers don't look that good but I think this book ended before they started their new format.

Amen, Rick!  No one cares anymore which Deejay is watching the automation system play songs.  Unless they have established themselves as a true personality!  Sounds like bio-hazard has an ego-hazard problem!  :)

This is a Clear Channel station, right?  So what autonomy does the local programmer really have?
