| Here is another rumor...I think Art IS going to do the Chiefs pre-game show...I was talking with 101 The Fox afternoon jock Skid Roadie last week and he said a guy named "Art" was gonna be doing the pregame show from in the building and that Kendall Gammons was gonna be the sideline reporter at the stadium with the two of them replacing Bob Gretz. Also heard that Gretz was canned because of a feud with play by pay man Mitch Holtus plus he was making too much money....just rumors you understand.

That's right Turner. Art will be the man. Can't wait to hear him on the Chiefs games. Art will continue to work in Springfield for MSU in a full-time capacity in addition to hosting "Sports Talk" on Jock. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
Now I can't wait to hear Rob Evans call MLB!!!

| I love to listen to Art Haines. I first met Art when he was fresh of of college and came to KGBX in 1976 and was glad to casually renew that acquaintance with him when I was back in Springfield in the 90's...I'll look forward to seeing him again this fall, I know he will do a GREAT job. GO CHIEFS! Last edited on Sun Jun 8th, 2008 10:05 pm by Turner the burner

Sounds great - Art deserves it. Should be interesting to hear the new dynamic. Chiefs radio does an incredible job - in my opinion, they make the Rams broadcasts sound like a high school game.
Just my opinion, mind you

I'm really uncomfortable seeing someone's employment contract posted on the web for all to see. I know that you can get salary information, etc about every MO State employee...even on my own employer's webstite...but to see a line-by-line "snapshot" of someone's actual contract in this forum isn't right. I know that if this was MY contract, I'd be screamin'...

Doug...
It' s public document that's on the Missouri Statewebsite for anyone to see. It has to be released since he's paid with tax dollars. Can't hide it. I'm sure Art would agree. Scream all you want but public officials are subject to public scrutiny no matter how uncomfortable it my be. If not, don't get a job paid with tax dollars.

TheKman is right.
I see this as a win/win for Art, Meyer and MSU. It gives the university a consistent voice and a great guy; Meyer wouldn't be able to pay that kind of money much longer (if he was doing it any way), and Art gets to do what he apparently loves best.
People who make 50 grand as an on air person in Springburg had better be watching their backside. With revenues dropping in broadcasting their shelf life may be about to expire in the not to distant future. it's what radio is coming to and like it or not.

Sorry, Doug, but Morris and the K-Man are correct. The contract is a public document available to anyone. If it's something you'd be uncomfortable with, you have every right not to work for the state. I worked for the state for just over three years and left because they dragged their feet too long on a promotional opportunity. So, there are all kinds of reasons people choose not to work for the state!
By the way, state contracts being public information isn't necessarily a bad thing. Indiana was going to outsource the design of its computer system for unemployment to a company in India. Public scrutiny killed the deal and resulted in Indiana residents getting the job instead.

I guess its official - from several sources:
The Chiefs Radio Network has added yet another new member, Art Hains, to its broadcast team for this fall. Hains will join Mitch Holthus, Len Dawson and Kendall Gammon.
Gammon recently replaced longtime sideline reporter Bob Gretz.
Hains, who has been the voice of the Missouri State Bears for almost three decades, will handle pregame, postgame, in-game updates and halftime duties for the Chiefs’ broadcasts. He also will continue with the Bears.
