Art,
I read on GWCR that he's a former KGMY (KSWF) employee. I wonder if it's C.J. Michaels???
I also noticed Jay Shannon isn't doing the morning show anymore on KSWF. Anyword where he's off to?

Chris Michaels and CJ Michaels are two different guys. I'm not sure that Chris worked there during the Wolf days, but he was apart of the My Country team for sure and I hear he's a nice guy.
I hated to hear about Jay's departure. You couldn't meet a nicer guy in this biz. Jay, best of luck, and just know that you'll find something bigger and better. Your friend always and #1 fan, JT.

If I had been in charge, I would have used the money and put it into the news operation. They are bare bones as it is. A full time employee would be the answer to constantly find part timers.
Journal is top heavy. They have an o.m. and then a p.d. for nearly every station. I think they could have used the new o.m. as the p.d., had a p.d. for the same p.d. for the two "young stations."
I think Rex has to focus too much on sales and doesn't have the time to hold the reigns tight on the various stations. If they lose the news edge then they have lost the ballgame.
Only my opinion. What do I know? I'm just raise white doves.

| You news hounds love news, but I would not be the least bit surprised if they are not sitting in thier war room and thinking you know what, lets punt news altogether. Won't have to deal with tempermental self rightious news people, ( I don't mean YOU) dump money into.. lets face it Mr.Mike is right about the dieing newsmedia. Corporate thug types today look at news like a resturant looks at portion control. If they don't ask for more of something don't offer it and if they get used to being without it altogether well GREAT. No contraversies to deal with, the only wrinkle to figure out is how to deal with weather crises, and don't be surprised if someday the Mighty KTTS doesnt subscribe to the same robo-voice dude Mid-West Family uses. I would guess KT would want to model itself out of one those HOT Country Nashville outfits and focus more on what Shania is wearing than lame stuff like who said what at a city counsil meeting.

| I totally agree! Don Paul always said KTTS was "A 24 hour nest station that plays country music." Even with new owners, that has not changed!

| I am not trying to harsh everyones buzz, I just base this on what I have seen and experienced. Corporations would LOVE it if they could totally take the human element out of radio. Be it disc jockeys and be it news. News is for old fogeys they will say, the kids that "desirable market" doesnt care. Most news people are crazy passionate and have morals which again flies in the face of " we need more revenue streams" and sending a Go Patrol to a fire isnt a money maker. HEY how many of us 25 years ago thought ROCK 99 would be an all talk sports station ? See, Rush sells Laura Ingraham sells, Maintaining a news staff is like keeping too much stuff on a buffet, food costs get cut man and the non moving items go first. Food for thought Amigos.

| Taking the human element out creates news. In the form of homicides and assault's. I rather have the 15-60 age group calling in news tips or jamming the line for caller # 6 or telebooka looka or request lines. They have no human element left so they let the tempers flare to get attention. Some day a station will cover local news and events and it will make lot's of money being just like the weather channel. It will have news from southwest Missouri. How many get bored online and check the weather 14 times a day? The Springfield NEWS channel Commeth and sponsors will overwhelm it.

| Sounds great Morris. I do think you could sell sell sell and LOCAL would sponsor and the community would reap the benefit's. We all know what happens when you cyber and text while driving or conducting a train. A real train-wreck. We can all be safe hearing it on the radio while driving.

| It could work BUT it would probably be on some outpost AM station the corporation doesnt worry too much about and staffed by some extremely dedicated people who don't mind being grossly underpaid. The sad stick in your guts truth is news, strait factual news is considered worthless while opinioned trouble starting blowhards are treated and probably paid like gold. Who wants to hear about fires or crime anymore when you can get a nasal guy to cleverly dump on the Democrats or a Canadian to rile up the Hispanic community. The line between news and entertainment is so freaking blurred... don't believe me... we have the best exhibit A right here on our board Mr. You know who.
