I heard the promo today during the Jim Rome show, Mike Edwards doing a sports talk show 2 to 4 on Jock 98.7. I never listen to The Jock past 2, I'll have to tune it and check it out. Question, will it be Edwards solo or will he have a partner or alot of guests. Somehow, I don't see Edwards and Chuckie Booms as a team. Give em hell Hoopman...

My alarm clock radio is set on the Jock and I never ever miss Jim Rome unless he has a crappy guest host, and usually by  2 I'm ready for music. I tried to listen to the debut today and this isnt a personal diss on the Hoopman but I was borred stupid and by 2:15 was Rocking with The Cave.. sorry.. You got Chuckie right there and you waste him in the mornings you got Mike Edwards right there and you...

Wow...you gave me 15 minutes.  That's certainly enough time to decide if somethings going to be good.  1st show a was a lot of fluff...friends stopping by like Nyla, Bill Rowe, Steve Harold, Edsel Matthews.  A lot of people don't realize I have a long history in sports in this town as well as being a "music" jock.  The show will build and we will have a winner.  I wouldn't have taken the job if I didn't think we could put together a winner.  Give me more than 15 minutes next time.  The CAVE???  Really?? Hmmm.

The CAVE !!! Well I do fit thier demographic ... 40 and completly out of touch with anything that has happened in music since 1994. Gave your show an hour yesterday, yes it is good, very solid should have a long and prosperous run. I am surprised as much as the JOCK promo's everything, I seldom hear much in the way of promotion for your show. Is that intentional ? Now will I be glued to your show everyday ? Not likely because I prefer tunes when I am working and I am not a big local scene honk ... plus I am leaving the state in 27 days.  Kiley and Booms had that lightening in a bottle quality and for alot of people that was the ultimate JOCK show, none of my friends like Jim Rome for example and think I am crazy because I do ... K and B back in the day in the Shady Inn kitchen was Can't miss stuff and touching the dial before it was over would get your backside kicked ...

Mike, Just wanted you to know I personally thought You and Rob were informative as well as entertaining. I listened to some of your show yesterday. I'm usually pretty busy at that time of the day. In all honesty I have developed a listening habit  that includes another station at that time of the day, however, I'll catch your show from time to time. Best to you and Rob. Both good guys that I have enjoyed working with in the past

Thanks guys.  You know, I love sports, and at this stage of my career, to have an opportunity to do this, with the staff at Meyer Communications backing me 100%, working with the sports legends of SW Missouri like Ned, Art, Tom, Rob, Scott...These are THE sports guys, and now to be included in that group is both an honor and priviledge.  When I left MWF radio had stopped being fun...Guess what?  I'm having fun again!!  Mike Roberts and I are continuing our new business, but I also get to play radio again everyday and talk sports...that's better than Andy's Frozen Custard...almost!

Mike, just being honest, first impression didn't blow me away.  Could be because I had really high expectations since you were involved and it seems like you're feeling your way a little bit.

I'll tune back after a few weeks and then take another listen before I really make up my mind.  My radio actually jumped off Jock for the first time in a long time when they signed up the Dallas Cowchips so now I have to flip back to hear Rome or JT & sometimes I just forget to flip.

This show is going to be the alternative to Sports Reporters and Sports Talk.  It WILL NOT be the same.  We're going to build the show so as to make it different.  The "Where are they now" segment is already receiving praise from many listeners, and we're confident we'll continue to grow with other features.  As far as feeling my way, you bet I am.  I'm a longtime music jock that's trying to learn talk radio.  I do not profess to be polished by any means.  But the show is going to take a road of it's own and I just urge everyone to keep listening because we feel it's going to be a winner!

Well, if you're going to leave me on hold for eternity, at least it was for the Godfather, Art Haines.

Adam, you know you don't care about sports. But your pics from Europe were great!

Rock on, Beavis!

<YAWN>  I tried the show for a while.  I can't do it anymore.  <YAWN>

Tom Lad griping about how the Lady Bears players "do some hip hop thing" when they are introduced and how Cheryl would ne-e-ever have let that happen finally made me change the station today.  I don't think the radio on my desk knew there were other stations, and that goes back to the pre-Jock, Rock 99 days.

The idea of covering topics/guests that no one else does is ok for a segment or two, but there is a reason "no one else" does those things all of the time.  I'm sure the parents of the girls tennis team at Kickapoo (or the relatives of any other youth/ second tier high school sports teams) are very proud of their daughters as they should be, but I don't want to hear about it.

Bring back tape delayed Steve Czaban, and if it has to be straight, white bread sports - bring back Chris Myers.

...and as quick reminder since I don't post here often, I am not a radio person.  I don't have an affiliation with any stations, local or otherwise.  I am a college educated, professional, male, 25-35, married, non-smoker, homeowner, omnivore, innie, coffee drinker, regular voter, dog person, toilet paper roll over the top, radio listener (broadcast and xm).
