I spent the last two days in North Missouri, and drove back down highway 13.  I listened a little bit to KOKO in Warrensburg and KDKD-AM in Clinton.

Who's running these stations these days?  Are they having any success?

KOKO is run by D&H Media, Vance Delozier and Greg Hassler.  They seemed to have picked up some success this year in the Central Missouri Sports year.   I know they were struggling at first after Bick sold KOKO moneywise, there are a few rumors of KWKJ and KOKO being looked at to be bought, but nothing concrete that I can tell.  I talked with Greg Hassler at the Royals Day and he had indicated those were false rumors and he had heard them too.  Although in this day and age any sale is possible.

As for KDKD they are run by Legend Communications.  Bob May is the General Manager in Clinton.  I've had the chance to talk with him on several occassions and also work with him on a few production spots that we exchange and such.  The stations certainly have generated more buzz in the last few years under Legends name, but then again with KLRQ becoming a national Christian Radio Station, I guess you can say it was expected for people in Henry County to turn to a local station.  I know they have certainly being a lot on the internet and continue to add high schools to broadcast over the internet.  They do have Ken Dillon in the morning there along with Dave Lee, a reuniting of the Breakfast Brothers from KLRQ days, although the show is a lot more tamer, then their old rock n roll days:)  If you'd like visit kdkd.net  I know Bob May is close to home and seems happy in Clinton and was specifically looking to buy stations in that area and the buying of KDKD seems to have been pretty productive for him and Legend.

It still blows my mind that KLRQ sold out like that.  I used to listen to that power house of a station all the time.  I am glad most of them went over to Power 97.

And it will blow your mind when you hear that KDKD is being sold to Goodman and goodradio.tv.
