Today (Sunday 15th) there was a nasty storm with large hail that moved right through Springfield and to my surprise KSPR (chan 33) whipped the other TV's on coverage. They were the only station to have continuos coverage. Other's had golf, baseball, etc. 10 points for 33!
I know that some folks would rather watch golf, baseball etc....but at least in Radio, the "sports stations" generally always rank last or near last in the ratings. It's a loud minority....sports fans.

Channel 33 did a great job yesterday. However I wonder why some of the other stations don't take advantage of their technology better.
If you want the latest local weather during severe weather, Weather Plus isn't it. There you can hear about the potential for storms "later today" while being pelted with hail, strong winds, etc.
It seems that if the locals don't want to interrupt important live changing programs such as golf, they could put a digital sub channel to use for those being affected by the storms. They could provide localized weather coverage for those that need it. That would also be a good service for those East of Springfield who get less attention once the storms have passed Springfield.

| You made me remember that those folks living east of Springfield still need coverage. I recall when I was running KT we constantly had to remind ourselves that those folks are also in our listening pattern. It's normal to think a storm is over, after it passes over "your house" I suppose. Hopefully we did do a pretty good job on covering storms after they went through Springfield. I think for the most part the TV guys do well at this also.

| Sorry but I don't remember his name, just one of the "weather guys" on KSPR, he was doing wall-to-wall coverage using the live radar and showing when the hail would hit certain areas and was "right on" for where I live in SW Springfield. Because there were no official warnings issued, there were no sirens going off. It was just hard rain, lots of high wind and hail, some up to golf ball size. Due to the past weeks of horrible weather in the Ozarks, I know there was lots of interest in this storm.

XGM-
KTTS always used to do a great job with weather coverage. I am not a country music fan yet I know many others as well as myself who used to tune in to KTTS just for the weather coverage and for breaking news stories as well.
I think KSPR has drastically improved their coverage this year. Their interaction with the public through their weather blog, etc. reinforces their service to their viewers better than the other stations. Channel 3 does a good job too, but that depends on which weatherperson is on the air.

| KSPR's Josh deBerge previously was at KOMU and always provided excellent storm coverage when he was there. I think when he was here he did storm chasing.

| This morning's News Leader (6/23) has a nice pat on the back for KSPR and their weather coverage and not so nice comment on the other TV's . This all stems I am sure from last week's hail storm that was covered wall to wall only by 33.

Hello everyone. I was talking with N0UAM, Jim on the radio tonight and he told me to come on over here to this board said some talk about our weather coverage was going on, so I just wanted to thank those of you who have been watching and the nice comments. We strive to be the leader in weather coverage, and content with our weather blog, weather chat, and ozarksweatherfans page. Not trying to sound like a commercial but just trying to get the word out about what we are trying to do and how serious we take severe weather in the Ozarks during the most active severe weather years in a long time. Hope all is well and if any of you ever have a question don't hesitate to contact me! Oh and I was the one Sunday, the name is Kevin Lighty.

OK Kevin, I posted something less than complimentary a few months ago...HOWEVER I must say that true to your reply, your department and station has stepped up their level of coverage and investment. Thank you and KSPR as this person who is responsible for a factory of 220 people appreciates good info...last week when the F1 dropped North to South on the East side of town and skimmed our factory...we were tuned into 33 and you provided the info we needed. Thanks again.
