| A lot of blog talk on the trash way the teams look nowdays. Do you think its a good image for the young to see? Dennis Rodman was filthy. Do you think there should be a dress code for this gross look we see now?

| Let me spice this up a little. I am not just talking about scummy Rodman. Have you loooked at MSU mens and womens,And Drury Mens. What has happend to the youth?

| It's a shame, that's what. Young folks just look like trash, especially the boys. The other day I wore my ball cap backwards, just to look 30 years younger. It was'nt slanted sideways so I don't think it worked...besides my jeans were up to my waist of all things.

| Every generation has a fashion statement that years down the road doesnt look so bad. There was a time "long hair" was evil, guys who wore ear rings was "suspect". Kids will be kids. I can remember in high school when the nose chain to the ear was hip. I never did that, but MSU's bigger problem is they dont have local heros anymore. Take the 2 womens teams who went to the final four, both of those teams had local talent you could get behind. I could'nt name any of the starters on any MSU team even if you gave me a program and all day to study. Atheletes getting arrested can't be good. It also can't be good that now that they are building this grand new arena, ticket prices are going through the roof, pricing regular folks out of the games. I can't root for MSU anymore, I feel like I'm just a working class townie, why should I give a bleep about " the college" anymore. MSU needs to get back its charm in the community.

To me the only sport that has a real trashy look to it is the NBA. I'm sure somebody will say I'm racist because of that, but in the NBA the tattoos are all over the place and the shorts hang low. But what's a lot scuzzier than the look is the behavior - the Ron Artests of the league that go up in the stands and punch out his clientele (a fan), and the people like Charles Barkley that defend it. The bench-clearing on-court brawls have gotten ridiculous - such as last season's Knicks/Nuggets brawl, where Carmelo Anthony slugged a Knick in the jaw after the fight had been broken up. All this coming from the only major timed sport that doesn't even play an hour (these jokers only play 48 minutes.)
Football has its share of problems too. The hair hanging out of helmets stuff is pretty trashy, and a lot of these guys have gotten into trouble off the field. The major difference though is Roger Goodell is doing a great job of keeping a leash on it by dishing out harsh penalties for misconduct. Here in Cincinnati the Bengals just got one of their wide receivers back after an off-field conduct suspension ended, and down in Nashville they're not letting Pacman Jones suit up at all.
Appearance wise, I don't really see a problem with MLB or NHL. Baseball players spit and scratch themselves as much as they ever have, and NHL players mix it up for 30 seconds at a time like always. But they generally look good in uniform and don't have conduct problems. The NFL is getting cleaned up; too bad David Stern doesn't have the fortitude to do that with the NBA too.

| As long as you are on Baseball. I hate the "flair pants" Bring back the traditional stirrup's. I think all sport's should remember the influence a lot of younger kids. So clean it up.

Speaking of a fashion statement...I think if womens basketball ever wants to make a major impact they should discard the baggy uniforms that hang past the knees and take a cue from the womens volleyball teams and go to a uniform that shows off the female form more. Right now womens basketball is a laughing stock in much of the sports world but if they adopted uniforms similar to ladies volleyball, gymnastics or even the NBA uniforms of the 60's or 70's IT WOULD TAKE OFF in popularity. If they don't want to look like nappy headed hoes, stay away from extreme tattoo's. I personally think all tattoo's are tacky.

| I still would have liked to have seen the likes of Lady Bears, Melody Howard, Melody Campbell, Yen Quach and Roshonda Reed and yes even Jackie run up and down the hard court doing layups, slam dunks and jump shots in short shorts. | All the talk of tattoos and hair styles will die if the Ladybears win and return to the Final 4. What is trashy when you are losing is color and charicter when you are winning. They could put 5 Goth chicks on the floor as long as they win. Vollyball chick is completly different from basketball chick. Putting basketball chick in vollyball gear would be like putting Waffle House waitresses in Hooter uniforms... ok I am being sarcastic and trying to make a point.. SHIRTS AND SKINS BABY... seriously do we really want to encourage the pervert factor in SCHOOL sports ? Maybe have a paddle above the backboard and instead of cutting down the nets losers get... nevermind LOL

I know I'll offend some delicate souls here, but THE WORST FASHION STATEMENT BY TEENAGERS was the Preppy look worn my generation. I think it was a plot by adults and the administration in the White House at the time. "Hey kids! Why don't you dress like rich, middle-aged white Republicans. Rebel against those bad old punker and hippies!" Those tweed sport coats with patches on the sleeves were worn by both boys and girls. Manilow and Air Supply instead of the good stuff.
I think kids today dress much better and have better taste in music.

Michael J. Fox as Alex Keaton seemed to launch the 80"s preppy look and seemed to elevate the conservative stereotype from the Archie Bunker type to a more hip younger upper class. I don't think President Regan would have been nearly as popular with that younger generation then, if not for Michael J. Fox. It is kind of ironic that Rush and his ilk would later bash him for his stance on stem cell research.
By the way Desdinova...I like your look. It very fitting for the Ozarks super villain.

Actually, I remember the Preppy look hitting before Family Ties. I think that Family Ties may have helped kill it. MTV may have helped too.
Thanks for the complement on my mask. Although I bow to the old Republic Serial villain the Crimson Ghost as coolest looking villain. I know the band the Misfits liked his look too.
