I know the machine is supposed to do the ids for 1230 etc.....bt did not.
The FCC knows about it by now, I suspect.

The problem with id's during sporting events, they don't come at exact time, they drop them in between action

| So, John, there is some hope/need for humans after all....if they promise to work cheap. Wonder how many Zimmer computers it takes to change a light bulb?

Thats the problem with todays radio in general, lots of automation very little local.
Zimmer is spending a lot to build a news department however.
Zimmer sold many of their stations in SE MO and IL but kept their Joplin cluster as they are doing so well. Same with Columbia.
Running 6 stations under one roof can be very profitable.Think they could at least have a board op for KZYM during sporting events even if they paid minimum wage.
Have you heard the adds for Freeman hospital during ball games? I have heard the song so many times getting tired of it. The guy can't sing well anyway.but good promo for Freeman urgent care.

Sounds like they only sold two sponsors for the entire game..and I get tired of the pub service spots...I almost-----hmmmmm. But wadda I know...my son is now the powerful media figure in the family at the KKOW front desk.
Now if I could only get someone besides KURM to carry Nebraska Feetball. GO BIG RED!!!!

I hooked up Cardinals baseball to an automation system at Monett a couple of years ago. It's fairly complicated, compared to the Royals. KC requires only 4 relay triggers, Start Game, Commercial Break (all 60's), Station ID, and EndOfBroadcast.
The Cardinals have several commercial triggers, because their breaks vary in length. As I recall, one of them is like 5 minutes long. It took almost 10 relay triggers to properly do a Cards game. And, I remember that the guys in the booth would regularly forget to 'push the button'. Either they had a technical problem at the game, or the game engineer didn't care about automated stations.
One of the NASCAR networks still doesn't provide automation tones. They're like, "our broadcasts are too important to automate". Right.........

| Well it looks like KZRG is picking up more programming from Fox as they are now the new home for Alan Colmes. They were carrying his show last night instead of Mike McConnell.

Well KZRG either jumped the gun or got their wires crossed. Last night they had Alan Colmes on in place of Mke McConnell. Tonight the Mike McConnell show was back on, someone was filling in for him. So either their going to replace McConnell with Colmes or they somehow fouled up their programming Thursday night.
In reguards to the ID's on the Cardinal games, I caught the tail end of the game on the radio, saw some of it on the idiot box, and I noticed that KZYM missed the ID at 9:30, but they hit the commercial break at 9:32 or 9:33, the break right aftr the winning run scored for Washington. Computers, ya gotta love 'em.

I'll just ignore the "GO BIG RED!!!!" comment and get right to the broadcast.
I'm pretty sure KURM is running the game as pay-for-play, as local NU alumni associations have done this in several markets. I know this was the case in Dallas a couple years back, and suspect NW Arkansas is the same way.
If it's imperative to hear one of the Big 12's worst game broadcasts though, Sirius carries the NU broadcast of every game.

When we came back 11 yrs ago a group at Holiday Island or somewhere was pushing the games and getting alumni support. Think that group is outa business, but several alums are sponsors. Just wish "the colonel" would not do so many remotes at the wrong time. He must be a jewel to work for.
I take it you are not a fan of the NU broadcast team. When we first came to Lincoln from the Wichita Eagle in 73, the revered Lyle Bremser was the main player in the booth. KFAB in general, however, is stilll a powerhouse. Do not know if there are to be any changes in the team this year.
fyi--on the website http://www.joplinindependent.com for which I do book reviews, am working on the BTK book the Eagle wrote. Among the players in that scene were news staffers at KAKE TV.
