Well today was day 2 of KQYX's "Daybreak" program which Art made an appearance on yesterday. It'll be interesting to see how it goes and I'm glad that their doing something local.
It's interesting to hear their newscasts as they seem to cover more regional news than KZRG. It would nice to see them carry the show up to 9:00 instead of cutting it off at 8:30.

Thanks. I was there to make sure the equipment worked like it was supposed to (Telephones, delay, etc)....
Warren reads the forum, and I'm sure he'd appreciate your thoughts.

Is that the former KBTN, or is that KQYS?

"Daybreak" is on for 2 hours presently.
The 6-7a hour is on KQYX -1450 in Joplin AND 1420AM-KQYS in Neosho.
The 7-8am hour is only on KQYX, 1450AM

| Ah...thanks for that. My father used to own KBTN 1420, and I worked there in high school. He had told me that it finally sold to a group that included some Monett stations - good to see they are doing something new!

| Is Dave Horvath still at KQYS? He was my mentor at KJEL 10 years ago. I went to school with his sons.

| That may be the very tape recorder I absconded for him. He had just been blown out. Landed the gig in Neosho a coupla weeks later. Asked me if I could save tape recorder from the trashcan. Their equipment at the time was behind the times. We had 10 very good tape recorders that were to replaced by mini-disc players...and that was 7 years ago.

KQYX needed a local morning show for a long time, glad they finally did it.
Now we have 3 stations doing live talk in mornings.KDMO 1490 is also mostly talk and news from 6 to 9am.and of course KZRG.
Glad to see more local programing in Joplin.
Art whats the latest on WMBH 1560, seems the owner turns the transmitter on and off at various times no set schedule?

The show is horrible. Warren sounds tired, the program lacks flow and direction. Sounds like public radio station. but, it's par for the course for Community Radio. Lets slop some crap on the air and hope for the best. And we'll give it away free and continue to run radio in the ground.

How exactly are you defining "community radio" exactly

If you wish to compare morning shows on KQYX and KZRG, I think KQYX is more informative while KZRG more entertaining. Both good in their ways.
Also there is the Glenn and Cooper show on KDMO., very informative and entertaining also, mixed sometimes with a little music..

KZRG sounds nothing like KQYX. KZRG is much much much better.
Take out KZRG's programming...
Just look at the sound of the station. KQYX has RF bleeding into thier air chain, they sound muddy, no processing.
KZRG has a warm sound, no buzz, no rf feedback, when MR. Zimmer purchased the stations from his brothers they ripped out everything including the transmitter and started OVER! The air chain is brand new including a new digital board, the best equipment.
It's not bragging. But, Zimmer has the best equipment and studios in the 4-states. How many markets this size have 3-fm hd stations with HD2 formats locally produced? NOT MANY.
The Zimmer investment in hd sits around half a million dollars.
And Peterson bitches about buying a generator? Come on...Broadcasters need and must invest in their properties. Speaking of generators Zimmer has one at the studio and every transmitter site. Okay, BRING ON THE ICE STORM.
