I hear that Panama Jack is gone from Thunder Country.

So, what else is happening with morning shows in Joplin?  I know Steve (Sharkey Waters) Smith is doing mornings on KBTN.  And, 'Bubba Fontaine' is doing mornings on 104.3.  But, what else is going on in the monrings in Joplin-Pittsburg?

Randy Brooks, known as Randell Gower on KDY and Rockin' Randell on KSPQ in West Plains, and Josie Jones are hosting Morning KIX on KIXQ.  Dalton James Windsor is on KKOW AM in Pittsburg, Franzman is hosting the KZRG Morning NewsWatch with Dale Forbis news & local sports & Josie Jones weather.  KQYX is carrying  Bill Bennett's Morning In America.  And that's all I have for you now.

I heard "Franzman" on KZRG the other day.  Who is he, and what's the deal with all the 'attitude'?

Dale Forbis is a good newsman.  If I'm not mistaken, he's worked in Little Rock, St. Louis and KC.  It sounds like he must have again fallen victim due to the corporate idiots' "the bottom line is life" theory, too.

Dale came here from Wisconsin.  He seems like a great guy and I agree that he is a great newsman.

Forbis came from Wisconsin via KCMO  WDAF A M  ETC in Kc....good to see him revive the news spirit of the original KFSB on 1310...too bad he may be leaving....1310 was the first station in Joplin with mighty 5000 watts covering the trade area; wotta concept..and local service and voices..hmmm....that will never last.

I didn't know about Dale's "K. C. connection", I just knew that he mentions that he lived in Wisconsin for about 5 years.  I've never heard him mention K. C.  I'd hate to see him go, but I'd understand why.  He's been a work horse at times anchoring the morning news and then going in the afternoon to host the Afternoon NewsWatch.

I've tried to listen to KZRG in the morning and afternoon when they're local.  Guess my age is catching up to me.   Both Franzman and  Kinsley sound like 25 year olds who are trying to be edgy.

When your primary audience is 40+, heavily male, don't give me a 25 year old.  Give me an experienced voice who actually has some life under his belt.

I know, I know, I was 25 years old once myself, and I was exactly what I'm complaning about.  I thought I had the answers to everybody's problems.  I didn't realize til much later that I was just being 'youthfully arrogant'.

Just my thoughts.

Franzman claims to be 40, but I think that you're right about Kinsley's age.  I think Kinsley said that at one point and time he worked at channel 12 before he started working at KZRG.

ok. so I was in hs and college during the 1310 and 1450 years..learned a lot but did a good job, I thought....edited a paper competing w/the Globe at age 25-26.

===kinsley is 22 or so...gotta have wider demographics or the station dies...yes, Franzman is too much for me sometimes, trying too hard to be cool, but people listen.   I know Forbis, when he was pd, wanted to get more experience, but who wants to pay for it in a market this size?  Not Zim, certainly.

I like Kinsley a young voice sounds good even with older demographics, I know KZRG audience is increasing getting lots of calls compared when they started.

Nice to hear some local Joplin programing, can't say that about KQYX 1450. By the way complete dead air except for adds on KQYX 8 to 9AM today on what suppose to be the Wall Street report. Seems no one on the board.  Other 4 stations normal programing.

As a Cardinal fan, it bugged me when wmbh had games and lotsa dead air, etc.

Then bugged me more when 1310 shifted the games to another Zim station--with lotsa dead air, few station ids etc...although that has gotten better of late..but I still wish I could hear the Cards better at night. Missing KMOX.

Well I think that Zimmer has automated the Cardinal games because when the Joplin baseball team was playing the DJ on KIXQ was also engineering the high school games so I think that was part of their problem with the deade air/missed ID's.
