Joey Anderson from KAYQ called a few days ago.  He was saying that KRMS-FM in Osage Beach has changed from Jones (Dial-Global)'s classic rock service to a new service called "Audience Bakery".  (audiencebakery.com)

I exchanged a quick email with Ken Kuenzie at the station, who said it was a new startup service from Dallas.  Right now, they're cutting custom drops for KRMS, which are being FTP'd up to Osage Beach.

Interesting idea. And, apparently, it's barter.

I had a chance to hear it this weekend and it sounds okay. It's waaaay better than Jones and definitely better than the ABC voicetracking.

Dennis and Ken are good guys and run a respectable operation. I have a lot of admiration Dennis as a broadcaster and as a friend. I'm also glad to see 93.5 go back to a rock format. They were a rocker from 1986-2006? 2007? I liked their imaging as "Mike FM" but the music was too helter skelter even for a "Jack".

There's no question that Ken and Dennis have WAY more fun than any two guys running a radio station anywhere.

They have good billing, their stations sound top notch, and Ken's a wiz on the technical side.

I listened online to their FM stream, and was quite surprised at how LOCAL it sounded.  Those VT's are obviously custom-cut, and oriented toward their audience at the Lake.

I'd like to learn more about how Audience Bakery is going to implement these ideas on a larger scale.  It has the potential to take a big bite out of satellite in small and medium markets.
