Saw on Radio-Info - KELE in Mountain Grove, MO has been granted a move to just outside of Cinncinnatti, OH!  They have filed for, and been approved to move to Ripley, OH at 1180.

I wonder if Goodradio might move KMRN into Kansas City now, with the deletion of 1360 at Mountain Grove, KMRN could probably get a massive power increase and become a listenable KC signal at least by day.

That makes the move of KLTI from Macon to Springfield seem like nothing!  Lots of  crazy AM station moves lately.

I also seem to remember another small Missouri AMer applied to move to Las Vegas, but I don't remember which station it was.

This was a deal working when Quorum had the three Cabool/Mountain Grove stations.  Their Ripley, Ohio, station wanted night authority, but 1360 had to be vacated in Missouri as part of an overall signal shakeup.  Ozark Media can now shut off the AM transmitter in Mountain Grove.

If Quorum owed you any money, watch for this deal to be consumated.  There should be plenty of cash to pass around soon.:P

That sounds right.  Thank God Quorum doesn't owe me any money.

Lots of crazy things, but I am glad the move of KGYN 1210 Guymon OKto OK City fell through. KGYN serves a large farm area in NW Oklahoma and panhandle., the only station that does.

Clear ch wanted to buy it move to OK City and move KTOK 1000 News.talk to 1210 50 kw. Was rejected by the FCC

1360 in Cincinnati also owned by clear channel.

I guess the emphasis in my post was the word "should."  Not likely available, but should be.

I don't know who on earth would want to buy the moved-in KELE at Ripley, OH. It's a daytimer that has to make way for WHAM at night, it's too far away from Cincinnati and Lexington both to make a difference in the market. The only purpose in buying something like that....is to move it again.

UNLESS, you are counting on the new PRM that will allow AM stations to use FM translators to reach those hard to get to places.  And HEY, KELE-AM will get into MY territory that way.

On paper that's a fine idea, but Cincinnati is too big of a metro with too many hills and high-rises to adequately cover with translators. After moving to Ohio, KELE will still be a junk signal.

My guess is yes.  The AM is off air.

The deal is done. The AM transmitter has already been sold to a private individual to display in his radio room. No, not me, but a ham operator.

The former owners wanted to move anyway, creating a perfect out for Ozark Media, who didn't want to waste the electricity on an AM simulcast and couldn't justify pumping money into a third property in such a small market, especially an AM that barely makes it out of Grove.

KELE apparantely turned in their CP for Ripley, OH in favor of remaining in Mountain Grove.   Are there plans to put it back on the air? Or will the station go dark permanentely?
