Today my wife and I went to the Lake of the Ozarks and on the way back to Springfield saw a billboard for 101.9...we tuned in and liked the music. Where is it out of? I don't think I ever heard it before.

KZWV - Randy Wright of KMIZ-TV is one of the owners.
I think it's an Eldon station

It's licensed to Eldon and using the former KBMX facilities, though they've been upgraded a little. It's the same tower and even the same studio location on Osage Beach Rd just a few blocks from Hwy 54.
The call letters are KZWV, and Randy Wright is the main owner. However, I believe he also has backing from the Machens family, owner of the Machens Auto Group in Columbia.

Yep, KZWV "The Wave" is a nice radio station. I love the Smooth Jazz crossovers from time-to-time and they feature chillout music on Sunday nights. I haven't listened to them in a while, but I'm sure they still sound great.
The lake is home to quite a few good radio stations: KRMS-AM 1150, most of their talk shows are local. If anything is happening in town or remotely related to the Lake of the Ozarks, you'll hear about it on 1150.
93.5 MIKE FM, It's like "Jack" and "Alice" with a party attitude...it's always fun and very "Party Cove".
KS95 is a heritage Full Service/Country out of Versailles.
I'm biased when it comes to this listing: KLOZ "Mix 92.7", a Heritage Hot AC format. We are community involved (and so are the other stations in town), have a healthy commercial load, books 4 remotes/wk at the least, we always have a great promotion on the air, and a hot music mix. It's a fun place to work and they have sent me to more concerts than any other station. We also have KQUL "Cool 102.7", which recently repositioned itself as a Classic Hits station.
KCVO 91.7 The Spirit is good for Christian families too.
With the lake area being largely populated by out-of-towners, each station tries to sound bigger. The commercial production on each station sounds awesome. Each station uses an Orban Optimod processor. They don't sound like any Miller County radio station, that's for sure. All of the owners of lake stations are former jocks. Dennis Klautzer, Ken Keunzie, Denny Benne, Jay Fisher...Jay is still morning guy on KS and Randy Wright tracks a few shifts on the Wave. Benne covers Osage High School sports and Dennis and Ken voice commercials on KRMS. It's small market, yet it has a big sound.
With the exception of KS95, all of the lake stations stream audio online.

My very first "on-air" job was with KRMS AM back in the fall of 1956. I served as News Director and did an afternoon DJ show for a couple months before the military draft took me away to the Army. Prior to working for KRMS, I was the MC for the Ozark Water Ski Pageant at Lake Ozark for the 56' season.
