After a failed attempt to move the station to Ripley OH, here is the story as seen in All Access:
FIRST BROADCASTING CAPITAL PARTNERS, LLC is selling KELE-A/MOUNTAIN GROVE, MO to DALTON C. WRIGHT's OZARK MEDIA, INC. for $15,000.

| Good grief, Charlie Brown! Who's he gonna get to rebuild the thing?

Dalton is an awesome guy to work for. I miss him. He currently owns KELE-FM and KOZX in addition to my old stomping ground KFLW. I would go back to him in a heartbeat if I didn't have to move.

It has to be back on the air by December 20, otherwise the license will be canceled, barring an extension from the FCC. It looks as though the FM antenna is situated on the AM's tower from the coordinates. I'm guessing a tower is probably all they have- should be a race for those guys to get it back on by the 20th.

They'll probably end up running it for about a week just to say they got it back on-air within the required time frame and shut it off again until Dalton officially gets to take it over. I don't even think they have to use their regular facilities in order to do that and keep their license.

They could file for an emergency STA, pop the station on the air for a day prwith a long wire antenna at low power, simulcasting the FM, and keep it alive to be properly rebuilt.

| When it was taken off the air, the entire modulator section of the transmitter was shot, and the total output was less than two watts, so there'll have to be considerable work just to get the transmitter happening. I believe they grounded the tower to protect the FM better, so they'll have to float the tower again. T'will be tons of work just to get a temporary signal on the air from this place.

Dalton brought me in when he bought the FM and KOZX. I had noticed one day (still under old ownership) that the AM transmitter was off. I asked the high school kid on duty, who resembled Mortimer Snerd why the AM tower was off. "it runs in on the older folkes hearin' aids" was his response. Hmm.
Buddy's right, 1360 barely covered the city of Mtn. Grove.

Extension of authority to remain dark was dismissed December 17. Any idea what's happening over there?

| They are closer than predicted. It turns out they still had an AM transmitter, not the one previously mentioned on this board, but one that is newer.

The FCC website now shows KELE as "LICENSED" instead of "LICENSED AND SILENT." So, it's possible that they're now running something.

KELE-AM is up and running. It is still licensed to First Broadcasting and they have brought the station up. Right now its a loop of Christmas music and Legal I.D.'s. Programming will be of a limited nature until the sale is final to Dalton Wright, at which point we will have a full line up of programming. We are using a McMartin transmitter, and it actually sounds pretty good, the tubes are a little soft causing some distortion. Which brings me to another point. Does anyone know of where I can get or do you have in posession any 4-500A Tubes? I am having a hard time coming up with any, even some used ones with some life left would be great until I can come up with something else. Thanks for your help!

I only saw the FM transmission line going to the tower earlier, maybe they don't actually have to use the tower just to keep the license. Or maybe they've put it up this afternoon.
In Cabool (about 9 miles away) it sounds scratchy and very weak. I would have guessed I was listening to a very distant station.
The station used to have a great signal years ago. Maybe someone can restore it's power and coverage again.

If yours still running the 4-500's? Most of those BA-1K's have been modified to use the more available 4-400's.
I've got a whole bunch of 4-400's. In fact, I can put in touch with at least two 1,000watt AM transmitter (a McMartin & and a Bauer 707) that are already modified to run with 4-400's.
