KY 3 becomes the first to solicit news video and photographs. Everybody should have been doing this along time ago---especially radio. It was radio's opportunity to pull one over on tv and newpaper.
Why didn't this happen? Complacency. Most radio operators are scared to death of the Internet. The next thing is cost, but there was technology available a year ago when I first started talking about this on forums that would have got the job done.
Radio sits around wonders what it's rapidly seeing advertising revenues flatten out or fall or why there's not substantial growth in audience.
The next big thing is communicating via cellphones. Radio folks, if you don't have an investment in the internet that will propel you foward, pack it up, cut the staff and just let the computer play the hits. You won't have anything else in 15 years or so.
I have yet to see radio ahead of the curve. Quite frankly, I beginning to believe the industry can do it.
It's a lot more than just slapping radio news stories on a web page. It's about exciting content!
