I heard Neal Boortz the other day talking about how uninformed people should not vote. He blasted Democrats for trying to round-up the poor and other classes of people to get out to vote.
More often than not I like what Boortz has to say. But on this issue he is dead wrong.
The poor, minorities, elderly, young (18), gays, union members, etc are not second-class citizens and should not be treated as such. If you're an American citizen, you have the right the vote (unless that right has been tampered with by the Bush Administration).
Smaller voter turn outs favor Republicans. Large turnouts favor Democrats. It really should not matter.
Everbody should exercise their right to vote and it shouldn't be discouraged by a narrow-minded band of people, Republican or Democrat.
One of the very best things that could happen in America would be to have a 90% voter turnout and put all the lobbyiest out of business. Then maybe the political folks would do what the TAX PAYERS want, which is what they should do ALL the time, anyhow. They should be doing our desires, not their own personal ideas.
