To suggest that Bush could foresee economic calamity years ahead of the fact is ludicrous...in his state of the union addresses up until 2008, Bush proclaims the economy healthy.

Regulation of financial institutions was too little too late. SOX only came on the scene in 2002...it should heave been in place long before. SOX was bipartisan and thankfully it passed. Unfortunately for the MAC's, it was too late to stop the train and the administration told us to "go spend". I don't feel the Mac's are wholly responsible for the housing mess, lending institutions all over the world shoulder more blame than these two. Financial regulation was crap and the free lending was everywhere...heck I even got a house loan in '96 that I should have never qualified for. Luckily, the market was still good in '99 when that house sold and I found a better solution.

It would be nice if Mike would include some actual thoughts on subjects rather than play the role of posting links...some of which are erroneous and system intrusive and most of which are bias.
