I noticed a new promo for KY3 on air. "The place to be for...".
It features what sounds like new imaging music. Are they getting ready to bring on a new imaging package?
They're due for new imaging and a new logo. They've been using the current logo since the mid-80s.

No Regard is spending a few bucks over there. There have been some subliminal changes in KY's imaging in the last few weeks. Look at the breaking news graphic and the WX graphics...they're a bit more modern than that stuff they had not too long ago.

| I prefer what they have had if it was up to me we would still have Action News and Accu Weather. I am sure not many remember but I loved it when all the News-Cars were light green with white emergency lights on top. They changed that in 1976 with the Red White and Blue with blue lights on top. I also miss the K-Y 3 logo on the suit coats.

Basically the same logo since, what, '86? I haven't lived in the area since 1992, but this is the version of the logo that I remember. The current version (at least the one on their website) looks kinda wimpy.

They've been using the current logo design for nearly 25-years. Minor modifications have been made, but it's basically the same logo.
The same with "the place to be", which was an NBC theme back in the 80's
Why, of course, would you change something that's worked so well for so long? On the other hand, you've got to move forward to avoid becoming stale, and irrelevant to younger demos.
Then, there's the technical disconnect created by the DTV rollout. "KY3" is on UHF channel 44, even though most viewers probably think it's still 'channel 3'. What does that mean now? By FCC mandate, (to paraphrase Sgt. Schultz) "it means nothing, NOTHING!"
What a weird time it must be to work in television.....

| Keep K-Y-3 the place to be. If the News-Leader would have only kept "Tis a Privilege to live in the Ozarks" and never sold to Gannett and a few others not sold out, our whole Ozarks would be the place to be. But change ruins it. Notice how old logo,s from the 60,s and 70,s are in demand and how Pepsi just ruined the taste of Pepsi with the dumb look they have now. Nothing beats a established tradition. Think where channel 10 would be had they kept the "Newsbeat" Theme from the S.Peter Neuman days when they made a run at the top spot? It all crumbled when they lost Tom Dye, Mike Peters, and Jack Elliot. And of course the "News Beat " Theme. What do we still think of when we hear "10-2-4 "? " Never had it never will" The song "I'd like to teach the world to sing" was better know as the Coke song then the original in fact we sang that in music class with the Coke lyrics in the 70,s. I dare you to knock this off my shoulder (Energizer Batteries) Folgers brewing tune. K-Y-3 the place to be will never in a million years find a better slogan it would be a career ending mistake for someone.

And I forgot. "KYTV the place to Be" Works even without the 3.
Somwhere someone gets a big consulting check for this advice.

You know a Linda Russell calender would not be a BAD idea Honestly if I am KY 3 I would go a mix of retro and modern because alot of that hokie stuff from the 70's is cool again.. The 80's are the out of style decade right now. A nice mix of myspace style ( which is what KOLR 10's looks like... a myspace page come to life ) and classic KY-3 ba da bum bum...

| Even back then, some of the owners just didn't GET the staging. I fought for two months before they understood that 96 dollars and fifty cents, as THEY wanted to phrase, was exactly the same as "ninty-six point five dollars." Then they understood and went along with.....

I swear I've heard the KY news theme on KCTV as well. Its odd to hear KY cues on there I swear.
No Regard needs to worry more about his on air product than his wallet at this point. There is a direct connection. =)

Yup, it's the same package. Quite a few stations picked it up in the mid to late 90's, but I don't know of many that use it anymore.
