CNN’s performance was worst in the 8 p.m. hour. Bill O’Reilly on Fox News continued his long dominance with the biggest numbers of any host, 881,000 viewers. Mr. Olbermann, with his first-run program, was second with 295,000. Close behind was the first edition of Ms. Grace’s show with 269,000. Campbell Brown on CNN trailed with only 162,000.

I dont think its thier "politics" that have driven them to last place. They have gotten so boring and stale, with way too much emphesis on sensational BS like Octomom. They need a big shake-up of some kind. They have become a cross between smarmy afternoon tv and watered down entertainment tonight. In some ways they are victems of thier own longevity and hard to change past. They are the channel they put on at airports ( other than the weather channel) because they are so bland and inoffesive.

I still prefer CNN to the others because they have more NEWS coverage...i.e. NO opinions thrown in, just the facts.  Fox has lot's of opinions but not much true NEWS, without opinions.  Opinions should all be labeled "Editorial".  Don't get me wrong, I really like Bill O'Reilly because he will take both sides politically, not always the same.

What made CNN  in the first place is they was the first, and like ESPN in its early days they had alot of time to fill IE show anything. They worked extremely hard to attract the foriegn audience and forge this respectablity like UNICEF or THE RED CROSS. Look at us we are whats good about the bad ol USA, we cover stuff others ignore. Problem is, being the channel they put the tv on at the airport isnt the same as being the channel they put it on at the truckstop. The reason why FOX kills in the ratings is because people who share the conservative view SEEK out FOX to reinforce thier beliefs, the same way Christians seek out Christian programming whereas "liberals" dont seek out as much, and people who watch CNN I dont know. Headline news is ok, That Clark Howard money guy is hard to dislike, but CNN needs to overhaul itself even if it is hard left, just being "there" doesnt pull numbers.

This is one of many reasons why they are in last place.
