Host Ellen DeGeneres told her studio audience at Tuesday's taping that she was obligated under her contract to continue the show, although she supported the striking writers.

| I think I remember reading somewhere that Bob Hope employed a major number of writers just to keep them for writing for other competition. Last edited on Thu Nov 8th, 2007 03:52 am by gomizzoutigers

Ozzymandias speaks: Sherwood Schwartz and Jim Backus were writers for Hope's radio show. They came up with a Preppie boy foil for Hope that was played by Backus. It was so successful Schwartz had Backus play the same character on the 60's TV show, Gilligan's Island, which he created in the 60s. Only the character was older and now called Thurston Howell.
Johnny Carson wrote for Red Skelton. He is responsible for the seagull routines.
Norman Lear wrote for Martin and Lewis.
Ozzymandias has spoken!!!

So did Steve Martin, Rob Reiner, Super Dave (The daredevil, not the idiot that used to post long tirades on the old board about homeschooling) and Lorenzo Music (the voice of Garfield). I wish their variety show from the Sixties was on DVD. I've been watching some clips from their show of bands like Jefferson Airplane, the Who and the Beatles on YouTube, but I, Desdinova the Super Villain of the Ozarks, DEMAND MORE!
Of course, I find it hypocritical that some would ridicule Letterman, Leno and O'Brian for having writers, when they aren't funny themselves:
