Rush Limbaugh Statement on Tim Russert's Death:
"It's just a shame. Tim was a regular guy with that perpetual smile he wore naturally all the time. He loved life and got everything he could out of it. Whether it was at dinner here in Florida while his son was taking golf lessons, or on the set of Meet The Press, Tim was always the same with me: genuine. He never condescended to anyone and was the consummate professional. He will be hard to replace. He was the closest thing there was at any of the networks to an objective journalist."

The thing I liked about Tim Russert was that he appeared to be just a regular guy. I know he was a lawyer, and very smart.
But, he was not a 'pretty face'. He was a tall, big man with goofy facial features. Kinda like, you know, most of us.
What set him apart was how hard he worked, especially in preparation for his gig on "Meet the Press". All those quotes and graphics don't just happen in TV, they have to be planned and prepped.
He was living in the 'fast lane' of journalism. Perhaps that's what shortened his life.
I think his decision to show his human side with his book about his father set him apart. A big man, not afraid to show his love for his Dad and son on national TV was quite unique.
There's a long list of people I would have loved to interview. Russert is one of those.

| No offense intended but I think the coverage was excessive and I'm sure the (pardon the expression) overkill will continue through the weekend. I know his sudden death was a shock and saddened his media colleagues but wall to wall coverage on every news show all night long seemed too much for me.

| They say it comes in three's...Jim McKay, Tim Russert and now sportscaster Charlie Jones, he was always one of my favorites.

| I think Russert had what some DJs have...the ability to talk to the viewer (listener) and have them feel it was 1 to 1...i.e. direct to them, not a crowd of listeners. That's great talent, Tim had it and I have known some DJs who have had it as well. Sorry automated or satalite fed programing just doesn't have it. No one to one feel. That's what made Radio great too...let's hope we get back to it before it's too late.

| Rush declared Russert unbiased. I'm still searching my Bible for references to a second Son of God...one named Rush.

At the risk of sounding callous, Tim Russert died almost a week ago. The TODAY show is STILL leading their program with Tim Russert stories. The NBC News is still talking about what a great guy he was. The flags are at half-mast. There's another tribute coming. There's this event and that event, and boy, he will be missed.
Tim Russert, Tim Russert, Tim Russert!
I've turned off NBC News for now. I'm sorry the man died, and it's awful for his friends and family...but I am sick of hearing about Tim Russert. TOTAL overkill. This is a painfully obvious example of personal feelings overcoming journalistic integrity.

Have you find it yet? Something about the burning rush? With the stations he is clearing and the money he is making - I doubt if Rush cares if we find it or night.
I disagree with you guys on The Russert thing -- they put him in the ground today, after that I would think things will calm down.

Now that's funny.
I actually read that a few years ago. I don't remember if I liked it or not.
