So, there's nothing more important to radio than the microphone. So, what's your favorite mic? I suppose you have to divide it into catagories...such as:
Studio Mic
Remote Mic
PA Mic
Most durable Mic
Least durable Mic
Best styled Mic
etc.
For studio mics, I've always been a fan of the Sennheiser 427's. RE20's and RE27's are excellent, but I've always liked the high boost and extreme dynamic response of the 427.
Remote mic - Gotta love the old EV635A. You can also use it for a hammer, when necessary
PA Mic - STill see a lot of Shure 545's out there
Most durable - 635 again
Least Durable - anything made by AKG
Best STyled - DX77 or Shure 55
What do you think?

Wow, what a neat category.
Studio Mic - 77DX with new gold ribbon, then Shure SM-7B. The 7B requires close micing and a power supply, but, oh how warm the sound.
Remote Mic - 635. Had to remove one from a newsperson's anatomy once. Stll worked.
Best Sesign - 77 DX or Shure 55, without a doubt.

| seems like too many lurkers and not enough posters...come on people, express yourself. Maybe people on radio station payrolls are reluctant to be vocal, some management might not approve. As for michs...I like the Rode made in Australia among others. It's amazing how a good michrophone can make a voice sound better not to mention good processing. Now, back to the shadows where I do most of my lurking.
