I wasn't planning to buy an Iphone. But, when I accidentally tossed my 8525 PDA Smartphone into the toilet, I needed to do something.
I wasn't available for an upgrade yet with AT&T, so replacing my 8525 would have cost me $500-$600.
I went to an AT&T store to see what my options were, when the geeks behind the counter said, "You need to look at an Iphone". They put one in my hand. That was my first mistake. The phone reached out and touched my inner geek, and I simply HAD to have it.
So, now I'm the proud owner of an Iphone. And, I'm in geek heaven.

| I use an 8525, and I'd like to toss it in the toilet! Maybe I should spring for an Iphone, too.....

I can see where it wouldn't be perfect for everybody, but for me, it's nearly so. I use the mobile email & web browsing all day long. The integrated Google mapping is fabulous, and of course, I have 750 songs in it.
The large screen is really cool, especially when looking at radar maps and such.
It has a VERY aggressive Wi-Fi adapter. If you're anywhere near an open Wi-FI network, it'll try to log on. I'm sure that's why the EDGE data plan is only $20 a month.
There are features I don't use, and there are things I wish it had, but overall, it's a really good phone. For $599, it was definitely pricey, but for $399, they'll sell a bunch more.
