Now, while the picture looks absurd (and it is), I was reminded of how times I've done a remote in conditions not much better.

I recall a softball game in a hailstorm.  Numerous remotes at fairs and rodeos that turned into a muddy mess when the rain came.  Standing under a metal pop-up tent during a raging thunderstorm, while doing a live broadcast on a Marti unit, with a wired microphone in my hand!   Not to mention chasing tornados!

Ah yes, we might laugh at the guys in the picture.  But, I've done things almost that stupid in the name of radio!!!!!

I can pretty much tell you (by looking at the size of the plugs and other cord equipment) that this has to be someplace outside of North America with 220v power (Europe, Australia, etc.)

But, as they say, its not the voltage, its the amperage that'll kill you.  I've accidentelly gotten a knuckle on a HDSL CO T1 loop on a 66 block at the office.  130 volts put a nice little burn across the back of the knuckle  .  But I think they only run about 60 ma; I survived :D.

I did a remote from Springfield Pool & Spa for KGBX from a spa. The only tragedy came when I jumped in the spa and forgot to remove my wallet from my swim trunks. I had to lay my dollar bills, soc security card, everything on the dash board to dry. Yes, I took one for the team!:D

I wonder if it is really plugged in. They could have just done the picture as a hoax.

That is my guess, surely it is not plugged in.  I agree with Art about some of the remotes in the rain and high wind.  I recall a few times of having to catch that giant oldies 105.1 "cool cat" and tent to keep them from getting blown away.  I'm sure it looked pretty silly holding the mich in one and holding down the tent with the other while encouraging listener's to stop and check out the great deals on new and used cars.

I wonder if KOSP  "the new star 105.1 replaced the giant mascot with the big dipper, milky way, north star or something cosmic?
