At 7:30 this morning, David Lile recounts to KFRU listeners that the 7:30 timeslot hasn't been live for some time, and that the program, assigned since Paul Harvey's death a couple of weeks ago to ABC's Gil Gross, is no longer available. They are replacing it with a local 5 minute news block.
David Gaines gets another 5 minute news broadcast, added to his morning programs, news updates during the daypart, and afternoon drive-time newscasts. Poor guy is getting worked to death after the cutbacks to the whole cluster, Cumulus manages to increase his workload as the only news on-air presence on the station.

I don't listen as much in the PM drivetime; I assumed when I heard Brian the other day I assumed that David was either sick or taking a day off.
Still, the news staffing is but a shadow of what it should be.
(note: I've heard Brian Hauswirth is available again after he lost his Corrections PR flack job in the Blunt-to-Nixon transition).
Update: The Morning Meeting with Simon and Renee has also been extended through the former "Paul Harvey News and Comment" 10:35 to 10:50 timeslot. Have done some searches today and have seen nothing stating that the Gil Gross replacement program has disappeared from the net.Last edited on Mon Mar 23rd, 2009 10:37 pm by gomizzoutigers

I spoke too soon. David was doing drive time news tonight at 4pm.
David said this morning that he had spent time with his kids last week, maybe he took the afternoons off to be with them.

What ABC has done is inserted programs with Mike Huckabee at the former Harvey feed times. I haven't heard the programs myself, so I can't offer an opinion.

So is the Gil Gross (7:30 am and midday) and Doug Limerick (afternoon) program feeds history?

| ABC sent out a memo a few days before and informed affiliates the Mike Huckabee Report would be available for the old Paul Harvey reports. There was no comment available in regards to this decision. I would have liked to have seen Gil Gross, Doug Limerick or Paul Harvey Jr continue the stories through the end of the year.

| I'm sorry to see the Paul Harvey brand just disappear so suddenly. I had always assumed that Paul Jr. would continue the broadcasts. Last edited on Tue Mar 31st, 2009 03:50 am by Ace
