Cumulus is running out of substitute hosts with them leaving the market and competitors within the market, making some interesting fillins lately. With Fred Parry off the air due to his candidatcy for hospital board and Simon Rose on paternity leave, several outside hosts had to be brought in to cover the Morning Meeting, including former Business Times host Mark Farnen. Earlier in the month, David Lile's drivetime slot, usually covered these days by Simon, had Sarah Hill (KOMU-TV) and Randy Wright (KMIZ GM and owner of KZWV, Osage Beach). David did host one morning's show live from KC during the Big 12 Women's Basketball tournament after MU's upset of Oklahoma.

I love it when you get an unexpected fill-in host. If your host is going to be gone, you might as well put something interesting in that slot.
My favorite was about five years ago when Neal Boortz was absent....and Ted Nugent filled in. That was awesome.

Actually, Sarah did a pretty good job filling in the one morning - I heard several people say some nice things about her. I forgot she had done news at KFRU years ago, and I'm guessing she hadn't done radio in 10 years or so.
And I think Mark Farnen had his young daughter as co-host during Morning Meeting.

I was in KC friday doing some work for MU, and heard Mo on the air in KC.
He sounded good.
It was around 11:30am, what shift is he doing? Mornings, or mid-days?
