Was in Macon today visiting relatives, and was listening to KIRK. They ran a clip saying Ken Kujawa was hanging it up after 30 years of service.

I owe a lot to Ken. He took me in at KWIX/KRES (KIRK wasn't around yet) back in '96, when I was a very early teenager. That experience opened the door that made everything else I've done since possible.

I had an intern in the newsroom here at KTRH the other day and she asked me about the "radio voice." Even though it's been more than a decade since he first said it to me, I quoted Ken as my response. "Just talk. Don't try to do anything fancy, just talk. The rest will develop from there."

Ken's a good guy. I wish him all the best.

I learned a few days ago that Ken left KWIX/KRES/KIRK radio.  I worked there for nearly 12 years (January 1994 - August 2005).  I'm curious as to what he's up to now.  I got out of radio for a while in September 2006 to pursue other possibilities.  However someday I will be back on the air.
