| I heard Jim mention tonight that on Oct. 15 that he would be visiting his new affiliate in his hometown of Lebanon, KBNN. Who was his affiliate there prior to this and the reason behind the change?

I don't know the reason for the move, but he was probably on 1230 KLWT.

Good move KBNN! KLWT was his original affiliate from day 1 even when they had their however many music formats. They carried both "America in the Morning" and the Jim Bohannon Show. When KLWT changed to religion (for whatever reason) they dumped Jimbo.
Jim started with KLWT when he was in his teens. He moved on to KICK, KWTO in Springfield, went to Vietnam, upon his return home spent some time at KFBD in Waynesville, and then headed for Washington D.C.

| Good question, Buddy. KBNN is a daytimer at 750khz. My guess is they will tape delay the morning show. They've never had a morning show on that side, so this will be a nice change. Their latest sign-off time is 8:30 and that's in August. Their sign-off time will soon drop to 5:00 in November. I should know.

| Back years ago, we had the only FM in a mostly AM market. Winter was the easiest time to sell spots, just after the daytimers signed off. Afternoon production was pretty heavy.....

I have a friend that works at KFBD, which is a sister station to KBNN, and he says that they are probably leaving KBNN on until midnight, which is what they are doing at KJPW AM, they are probably cutting down to low power at 7:15 and, again, leaving the station on until Midnight so they may be carrying the Bohannon show live.

| Nope, they can't do that. They are on a clear channel, can't even get ruduce power for critical hours. Up against WSB as night, and Atlanta ain't gonna give it up.

The key word in my last post was "probably" since he actually doesn't know what their doing as he works in St. Robert/Waynesville and KBNN is in Lebanon so I'll shut up now since I don't know what I'm talking about lol.

I asked Mike Edwards manager of KBNN a while back about night operation. He said the only way they could stay on a night with any amount of power would be to relocate transmitter site SE of Lebanon with a directional antenna to protect WSB and that would never happen , too expensive
I can not understand KLWT for dropping Jim, that is where he got his start. I have listened to KLWT while in Lebanon and confused about their operation, they could be a good station if run right, they seem to change formats evertime I listen.
Is it possible they might put Bohannon on 107.9 FM?

I highly doubt Jimbo would ever be on 107.9, but then again I never thought they would move 107.9 to Camdenton.
It's probably too late for KLWT. If they wanted to make a serious run at it they would need an FM translator like KZRG, KRMS, and KRMG are doing. The last time KLWT was a serious player was 1991. A different radio environment in those days. KJEL/KIRK played AC (when they played music), but all ears were on KLWT-AM & FM...mostly AM from what I've been told.

AM has lost a lot of listeners to FM since 1991, many news/talk stations have simulcast with FM to pick up a younger audience.
KZRG here doe not have an FM translator only on 2nd channel of KIXQ 102.5 HD IBOC. Few people so far have HD receivers..KMOX St Louis doing the same thing on KEZK 102.5. I don't know what the future is of HD radio around here few seem to be interested. How is KTXR doing with it?

Jamie you are right about the KZRG translator, I just saw the post it is on 102.9.In Tulsa KRMG has a full power station on FM not a translator.
I knew Zimmer would not put any of their 4 FMs a simulcast of KZRG,as they are all doing well.

John, we are doing okay with HD. I love it and wish I had more time to spend on it. We have listeners. This weekend we had some issues with our music logs not loading and I received 1 on my cell phone from a friend/listener, plus two calls received on the KTXR line + 2 more in the correspondence log at reception. That's pretty good when I mostly hear the nay-sayers always saying "no one listens to HD".
My point is, AM's days are numbered in terms of success. The reason is that most listeners that I have encountered are turned off by lack of sound quality and inconsistant operational hours. This is why you see big talkers like WIBC, KOA, and others buying struggling FMs and simulcasting.

Jamie I was wondering about KWTO AM, of course KWTO FM is already sports, and don't think you would put talk on KTXR.
In the case of KZRG here their 250 watts translator covers Joplin well but not the adjacent area.,I think zimmer did that mainly to pick up a younger audience,KZRG 1310 had over 6% in last Arbitron so not doing bad
Of course in Springfield KBFL99.9 is lower power still a good signal even in Lebanon of course to the south you have 100.1 FM in Branson area on adjacent frequency.
On the other hand KWTO 560 has a great daytime signal on the low frequency of 560, a friend of mine in Omaha can hear their day signal weak but clear.
The problem on AM seems to be audience is getting older, example in St Louis KMOX really dominates in audience over 55 but only fair in the 25/54.
