KZ88 will be broadcasting live from the Missouri Community Betterment Conference in Jefferson City October 18 and 19.

KZ88 will be the first radio station to broadcast live from the conference as far as we can determine. It will be held this year at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in downtown Jefferson City.

Live coverage will begin Monday morning and continue through the day from a community booth at the conference. We plan to have interviews with participants from towns around the state. Our station covers four of the 39 communities up for award recognition at the conference. Those towns are Cabool, Houston, Summersville and Mansfield.

Monday evening we'll move into the banquet room for live coverage of the awards banquet. The speaker for the evening has not yet been confirmed.

It's going to be a lot of fun and a test of the capabilities of our equipment both at the station and the remote equipment.

We were at the conference last year, but were not on the air at the time so we handed out information about our station and future plans. I've always enjoyed the conference because it brings together positive people working to improve and showcase their communities.

We did manage to broadcast from the conference. It went surprisingly well. We were the first station to broadcast from the conference. There were four towns in our coverage area (out of 39) up for awards.

In the community awards, category 3, Mansfield took second, Cabool took third,  and Houston fourth. Summersville got fourth place in category 2.

In all we were live from the conference over 3 hours including interviews, reports, the governor's speech and the awards banquet.
