The board has been so slow I guess i'll have to start my own thread...maybe even make up a rumor or two.

It is so good to hear Art Haines on the radio for Chiefs broadcast.  I love his voice, writing style and delivery and he makes a welcomed addition to the broadcast team and it is great to see and talk to him in the Cumulus Building in Mission, Ks. The man is real NFL talent.  Art is really keeping busy what with the Missouri State Bears broadcast on Saturday, Chiefs on Sunday and his regular weekday duties in Springfield during the week.

I worked with Art when he was fresh out of college and first arrived in Springfield at KGBX AM 1260 in 1976...now all these years later we get to hang in the same building together again.  I remember when Me, Art, Randy Sissel and Chuck Riley used to leave KGBX about 4pm drive up to watch a  KC Royals game and then drive back after the game, with me and Art having to be up and on the job at 5AM the next day.  The Royals were worth it back then.   Randy and Chuck have since died.  The Royals and Chiefs  are on life support it seems.

I understand tho' that Carl Peterson is still pissed because his buddy Bob Gretz got booted.  Word is that King Carl will not talk to Cumulus Market Manager Donna Baker because of the Gertz deal and will only converse with the Cumulus corporate VP in Atlanta.  I think he may be a little sexist too and only wants to deal in the "good ole boy network'.

Now for the rumor of the mind ...what is it with Bill Grigsby and Skid Roadie cruising the Chiefs parking lot together?  They can't be handing out bumber stickers King Carl don't allow that or distribution of anything that could be used as a potential projectile.   GRriggs/Skid  Hmmmmm?    Makes me want to say PRICE CHOPPPER.

I wonder if the chefs could beat a Springfield high school team? Here is hoping the activity picks up on the playing field and on this forum.

Its a tough call, who is more pathetic the Chiefs or the Rams. I actually sorta like the Rams because as a living in Springfield Royals fan I know what it is like to get  garbage  coverage. I will never get Cardinal fan who likes the Chiefs. They are crazy for St. Louis all summer and hate all things KC then suddenly, maybe it is the RED thing.   The Chiefs jumped the shark when Vermiel retired, he saw the downward spiral coming and got out. I see the Chiefs having another 70's and 80's style decade of bad. Half empty Arrowhead, more people there to root for the visitors and definatly no prime time games.  It will be awhile before the wake up the echos of the early 1990's when we all fell in love with Kevin Harlin and Chiefs radio. Prrrrrice Chopper and the edge of the seat thrill. Getting punked by a bad Raiders team at home, Art has his work cut out for him.

Art sounds good on the broadcasts.

Carl has got to go - he is like a parasite on the Hunt family, and must be fired.  The Chiefs don't have anything resembling a quarterback right now - that is inexcusable.

I remember my first radio job (early '80s) at KNIM in Maryville, back when Wayne Larrivee was calling Chiefs games with Grigs ("...if you love meat, YOU'RE GONNA LOVE Guaranteed Foods!") The Chiefs stunk, but Grigs was be-YOU-TI-ful.
