The reports out of the St. Louis area show that 21 Sound Communication's 93X is off the air.  As far as I know, it's preparation for them to allegedly move to a new tower west of Warrenton near Pendleton MO with a COL of Hermann if
it returns.

I say allegedly and IF because reliable sources say that its owner has run into further money troubles and cannot build the proposed tower and studios.  This group already lost its signal in Cuba MO (107.3 FM) almost two years ago because of financial difficulties.  The same sources tell me that although 101.7 FM has gone on the air in Elsberry, its actual owners - Marathon Media - are looking to sell instead of continuing its lease arrangement with 21 Sound, possibly by the end of the year.  Some of those who talked with my sources say the owner has put his house up for sale in order to try to stave off bankruptcy before 93.3 comes back on the air again (the sale of the house would fund finishing the tower?), and IF 93.3 does return in 2009 it could be religious-formatted, as possibly either the group which owns 1080 in Edwardsville IL and 1460 in St. Charles would lease or purchase it outright, or the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod may purchase it to simlucast of 850 KFUO.  As far as my sources know, there are NO STUDIOS for the new signal as owned by 21 Sound even though the owner claims to have a tentative lease arrangement.  Isn't that what got them fined before at Steelville?

It goes almost without saying that the owner must have someone with money funding his folly.

You're right there are no studios for 93.3 and that's what got the owner a big FCC fine.  I doubt the religious angle especially since KFUO is having financial difficulties and to a smaller extend the operator of KHOJ in St. Charles.  KFUO already has a 100 KW FM sister.  If I'm not mistaken, KKAC, also owned by 21 Sound is also off air.

Money or lack of it seems to be the main problem.

93.3 is back on the air again - same format.

Randy W. has more lives than a cat...BTW, the legal studio for 93.3 is at the KLPW studio in Franklin County - that is where the EAS, etc. resides, and until relatively recently the station was being programmed from there as well.
